Amy Yang Leads By Four as Third Round Play Suspended at Honda LPGA Thailand

Amy Yang, who still has five holes left in her third round, will take a four-shot lead into Sunday at the Honda LPGA Thailand. Third round play was suspended due to darkness at 6:21 local time with 10 groups still on the course

“My shot was good. You know, I’m hitting good all week,” Yang said. “Tomorrow again I’ll, you know, finish third round. I’ll try to do just one shot at time, hole by hole.”

The third round got underway at 11:00 a.m. but was delayed at 3:12 p.m. local time due to inclement weather in the area. Players returned to the course at 4:53 p.m. after a one hour and 41 minute delay.

Yang holds a four shot lead over So Yeon Ryu who posted a 4-under round of 68 to move into solo second at 13-under.

Play will resume at 7:00 a.m. on Sunday with the fi nal round scheduled to begin at 9:38 after a repairing. The final group is scheduled to go off at 11:50.

Xiyu Lin celebrated her 21st birthday in style by wearing a party hat for all 29 holes she played on Saturday at the Honda LPGA Thailand.

“Playing with Kim (Kaufman) today and her caddie, Audrey (Wayne), bought me this hat,” Lin said. “Just put it on and asked me to keep wearing it. I play 11 hole with that and feeling fine with that.”

Lin shot finished round two and three with 73s to sit at 3-over for the tournament which is tied for 55th.

“I been looking forward to this days for long time. And, I mean, it’s going to be really long day here today, but I mean, I got all my friends celebrate with me. I feel really good.”


Ariya and Moriya Jutanugarn lead the way for the Thai contingency this week sitting in a tie for the fifth at 10-under. Pornanong Phatlum (-3) is the only other Thai player under par which is tied for 33rd.


Amy Yang is looking for her first win since this event in 2015, a stretch of 44 events without a win. Yang has 17 top-10 finishes in that time frame

So Yeon Ryu has made 57 starts since her last win with 26 top-10 finishes

Yani Tseng’s 65 (-7) is her lowest round since a second round 64 at the 2015 Yokohama Tire LPGA Classic

Catriona Matthew bettered her 1st round by 18 strokes tying the low 2nd round of the day w/ a 66
